The Treatments module lets you log, manage, and analyze any health intervention for each family member in one secure place.

Getting Started

Accessing the Module

  1. Log in to FaMedic and open the dashboard.
  2. Click Treatments from the sidebar.

Adding a New Treatment

Click + Add Treatment.

Fill in Treatment Name, e.g., “Clotrimazole Cream” or “Vitamin D Drops”.

Choose Treatment Type (Cream, drops, pills, herbs, acupuncture, massage, inhaler, etc.)

(Anything that affects your body physically is considered a treatment.)

Writing or Generating Description

There are two ways to generate a description for your added treatments:

Manual

  1. Write your own concise summary.

AI-Generated

  1. Click Generate. This method requires an OpenAI API key. It supports quick, accurate descriptions like: “Clotrimazole cream—used topically for fungal skin infections, apply twice daily…”

Navigate to the Settings of your FaMedic app. Here, you will add your API key.

Adding Issues & Files

Issues

Link symptoms or problems this treatment addresses (e.g., eczema, seasonal allergies). Note that the Issues data comes from the Issues module. If you have created any issues in that module, those issues will appear here.

Attachments

Upload photos (rashes), lab scans, prescriptions, or PDFs.

Saving

Once everything is complete, click Save.

The treatment is now logged and visible under the family member’s profile. You can also delete a particular treatment by selecting it from the list and clicking on the Delete button.

How to Get an OpenAI API Key for Generating Treatment Description?

  1. Go to Settings → OpenAI API Key in your FaMedic app.
  2. Visit platform.openai.com/api-keys in your browser.
  3. Log in, click “Create new secret key”, and copy it.
  4. Paste the key into FaMedic and save.

AI description generation is now enabled, making it fast and accurate.

Real-Life Scenarios

Toddler with Ear Drops

  1. Emma (age 3) has a recurring middle-ear infection.
  2. Add “Ofloxacin Ear Drops” → select type “drops”.
  3. AI generates: “Antibiotic ear drops for outer/middle ear infections, 5 drops in each ear twice daily.”
  4. Attach the prescription from the doctor.
  5. Link issue: “Otitis Media”.
  6. Save for clear instructions during future antibiotic use.

Grandma’s Herbal Tea for Sleep

  1. Add “Chamomile Herbal Tea” → treatment type “herbs”.
  2. Add self-written description.
  3. Issue: “Insomnia”, attach product info PDF.
  4. Keeps herbal remedies aligned with medical advice.

Post-Surgery Massage

  1. Record “Physiotherapy Massage” → select type “massage”.
  2. AI description: “Manual therapy to aid recovery after hip surgery.”
  3. Attach physiotherapist’s plan.
  4. Issue: “Post-op recovery”.

Tips & Troubleshooting

No API key? You’ll need to manually write descriptions.

Forgot to attach the file? Edit the treatment and upload your files anytime.

Multiple kids on the same meds? Duplicate the existing entry, then change the linked family member.

Treatment duplicate? Use consistent naming (“Aspirin 81 mg”) to avoid duplicate entries.

Can I edit a treatment later?

Yes. Just open the treatment entry and click Edit.

How many treatments can I log?

Unlimited. FaMedic supports all family members with no limit.

Are attachments secure?

Yes. All files are encrypted and stored locally or on your chosen secure path.
